Our Bike Ride

2010 June 27

On Sunday 27th June, Hannah, Callum and Ang completed a 26 mile bike ride in Cardiff. It was in aid of Cancer Research Wales. Hannah and Callum rode in memory of Michael - they wore t-shirts with his picture on. 'I wore your rings around my neck Dad and each time I needed extra strength I held them and you helped me! It was very sad riding past Velindre Hospital, where they tried so hard to cure you, but sadly failed, it reminded me so much of your suffering; I hope that our sponsorship money will contribute towards a faster, more successful cure for such a devastating cancer. We hoped to make you proud Dad, it was a very hot day, my bike temp reached 36 degrees! It was also quite hilly in places, so a bit of a challenge. Callum - being a typical Bevan managed to go on ahead and lose us, went the wrong way and rode an unneccesary 2 miles up a very steep hill - ha! - did it teach him? Did it heck - we lost him again and again! Somehow we managed to all ride 28 miles in the end! It finished with a long climb up the road towards Caerphilly Mountain, which was pretty tough coming right at the end and in all that heat, but I did it, I didn't stop, I felt very strong and I know that was because of you! We did manage to finish together, with Mum, Ghadir and the boys waiting for us, Mum was very proud and emotional - we all were. It was a great day and a great way to remember you Dad, it is our gift to you for fathers day - being the first we could not share with you in person. We all love you so much and miss you terribly, I hope that you are smiling with pride! Take care Dad xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx'
